Tips and Hints

Being a good student in this class (and in other classes, for that matter) does not solely depend on intelligence. To succeed in US History you need to work hard, have good study skills, be organized, be disciplined, and have an open mind.

Use the following tips and hints to gain an academic advantage in this class. Hopefully, you will learn that these ideas do not just apply to this class, but to other classes, to education beyond high school, and to life in general.

How to take notes

How to study

How to email

Every high school student should have their own, professional, email address. Sure, myspace and Facebook may be great and effecient ways of communicating with your friends - but they are not very appropriate for emailing adults (like employers or teachers). Likewise, your email address should be professional in nature. So you should have one email address that is reserved for communicating with with your friends, and another that you use on a more professional level. Your professional email address should just have some form of your name in it (ex: m.lastname12@gmail.com) and should not have nicknames, xxs, oos, bands, songs, slang, or any other term that you wouldn't want a boss (or teacher) to see.

You can get a free email account from Google gmail.
